The extruder is certainly the fundamental part of any recycling system; it consists of a cylinder, a screw, a variable-speed electric motor and a reduction gear.
The screw is the heart of the machine and the system specifications depend on its geometry. The diameter and pitch of the screw vary according to the type of material to be recycled: its shape is fundamental for the productivity and quality of the end product. The machine is also equipped with degassing chambers that allow the expulsion of gases produced by the melted plastic, thus avoiding defects of the granule such as “air bubbles”.
The two factors that determin the quality of granule are a good degassing to eliminate the gas produced during extrusion by extruder and a constant flow of material from the extruder to the cutting system.
